Medieval Chair
« on: January 21, 2013, 11:54:29 AM »
A chair for my grandson aged 2 made over the Christmas period, a new departure for me as I normally turn my woody things

It is a Savonarola chair based on design from the 16th Century scaled down to child size from an internet picture of the full size one.

Made in Sapele finished with Sanding sealer flattened then sprayed with satin acrylic.

Critique welcome as its my first piece of furniture.

Thank you Terry, George, I certainly hope so. (If it stands up to the wear and tear of a 2 year old) ::) ::) ::)

John, that looks fantastic, I'm sure the young man is very pleased to have his own 'special' chair. An heirloom in the making I have no doubt.

I just hope he's not too upset when he outgrows it, either that or Granddad has an ongoing task making bigger ones every couple of years.

And I do see a bit of turning in the back rest I'm sure.

It's really great. Looks strong enough to withstand the two year olds attention as well. LOL

John,

What can I add, stunning in every detail, even down to the name.

Well done.

looking at this again, something else that I have noticed, and really like is the way the name board on the back is not symetrical so that it fits the lettering. Nice.
