Hello all,
Im new to the forum and new to turning, not new to wood though I was a bench joiner for 7 years but that was 15 years ago.
I have a friend who does house clearence who recently came across a record power cl3 with bowl turning attachment, a record power bs350 bandsaw and a dust extractor, so £300 later they are in my workshop (seemed a good deal).
Thats the story so far, I have had a muck about with some scrap timber and Im keen to do some more, hoping to get some advice and inspiration here, at the moment Im enjoying making shavings for the rabbits.
Thanks,
Keith...

Philip Green:
As I see it, you have three choices: muddle along by yourself with the help of books, DVDs & YouTube, book yourself on a training course or find a local club that provides training.

Trainers, clubs and associations are listed on the AWGB web site.

I am currently receiving excellent instruction from a club here in Cornwall plus I meet other woodturners of all capabilities.

If you set up your profile with your location, I am sure somebody on the forum will provide personal knowledge about local clubs.

Books and DVDs are good but I think they are an addition source of knowledge rather than substitute for being taught in person.

Andy Coates:
Welcome to the forum, Keith.

You did get a good deal!

Statsman has given you some good advice which needs no additions.

Whatever you do, enjoy your turning and turn safely.

Thanks for the reply's
I have been told of a club in Newcastle under Lyme and Im in Stafford so not too far away.
I do have a couple of books but I dont learn very well from a book, good for reference though.
So it looks like a club is the way forward for me.
Cheers,
Keith...

Andy Coates:
Try this one; it may be closer to you...and it's a great club
