wood bleach

(1/1)

TWiG:
I am preparing some work for an exhibition next year , ( not much turned work ) using driftwood collected locally for photo and mirror frames etc , and would like to bleach some of the wood and was wondering if any one has any experience / recommendations of products for this task ?  From my own research the  2 part product seems to be the more effective but would appreciate any info from any one who has tried this .    Terry.......

I have bleached some 1mm square section boxwood as used for inlay lines. Went white all the way through, but needed to be rinsed in clean water and then left to thoroughly dry before using. The strength almost disappeared when wet. I used standard household bleach for this. Malcolm.

Bryan Milham:
Oxalic Acid is the normal bleaching agent for wood that I know of.
