Rustic Vase
« on: October 04, 2013, 01:23:40 PM »
I had a left over piece of cherry that had been lying around for a while. It was the junction of several branches and by the time I got to it was pretty spalted. I didn't have the nerve to stick my fingers inside to sand so just turned it as clean as I could. Right, back to the ordinary struff.

And there I was, thinking to myself that my latest piece of 'natural' turning was only just holding together! This is amazing and must have been a nightmare to turn. It looks very organic, almost as though it were once perfect, but is now beginning to rot away!

Love it...Les

Pete,

I'm not sure Rustic describes it, I'm not sure what does describe it though!

I've always wondered what a Cherry Crown would look like when turned, guess this answers it.

Hope you've still got the thumbs .. now this is a piece at the edge of nerves above all .. sticking a gouge inside would be more than enough.

Well done.   David
