Does any body know what this is?
« on: December 05, 2013, 12:01:13 PM »
Hi,
I recently picked up a new lathe with a couple of boxes of bits n bobs, in one of which was this.
There was another smaller one too. I don't know if the ring is part of it, but I thought I'd better include it in the photo just in case.
There is also a packet of elastic bands packaged with them, which may or may not be relevant.
It seems obvious to me that it is some sort of chuck attachment, but beyond that I'm lost.
I hope the photos are clear enough.

Many thanks,

Dan

They look like jaws from the Multistar Duplex Chuck. The ring is also part of it and is used to make the jaws expand (I think) rather than compress.

Hi Dan,

They are chuck Jaws for Craft supplies or Multistar Chucks.

Regards

Chris

You should have another two metal rings ,one to help you centre the jaws in the chuck body and another one with the one shown for when you use the multistar chuck in expansion mode, regards roy wathen

Oh. Well, I don't have a Multistar chuck!
Anyone want them?

I think the Multistar chuck was made available recently. I've seen them on eBay (new) in the not too far distant past - should you want one.

It also converts to a pin chuck 1" dia. Very useful for making nutmeg graters. Got 3 from Turners retreat. Trouble is they are rather expensive.
