Here we go again
« on: March 12, 2014, 02:17:48 PM »
Here we go again, spent another 3/4 hr making a super small goblet,5 mm tall ,2 mm across, stem approx 1/3 mm,ring 2 mm by 1/2 mm,and I didn`t break it,can anyone make a smaller one,now there`s a challenge,oh has to be made of wood not bone or resin/acrylic,is anyone daft enough to take up the challenge haha, cheers,Eric.

ps,I took the pic next to yesterdays one,so you can see the scale, only prob photo not great, camera not good enough to get a decent pic that small.

I think you must be pushing the limits of what can be done freehand. From here on down it might be on a machinists lathe with a cross-slide etc..

Then if you want to go much smaller you'll need to get a scanning tunnelling electron microscope, they can move individual atoms.  ::) ::)

The most impressive thing for me is that you are keeping a shape to them. When I was doing dolls house stuff that was what I found the hardest part of all. That and not losing them LOL.

Hi Eric

They look great do you turn them under a magnifying glass?

A magnifying glass is next on the list, had to keep blinking to get the old eyes in focus on this one,but use 2 ceiling spots, and 3 flexy arm spots when doing small stuff, will have to see if I can get a better pic to,those 2 are a bit rubish, cheeers all for the comments.Eric.
