And now for something completely different.
Here is my piece that was accepted into the exhibit Rising to be shown in Phoenix at the AAW National Symposium this year.
The bird emerging from the body of a teapot l sacrificed to make this piece is made from Pear as is the stand. I cut out the bird, carved it, and airbrushed the whole piece. It is approximately 15” high and 5” wide. Thanks for looking, Michael.

:o Oh wow! What a stunning piece. The initial, visual impact is absolutely amazing, and the more one studies it the better it looks.

Les

p.s. ...  when a teapot has to be sacrificed, it can come to no more worthy an end.

Hi Mike,  your airbrushing is amazing, such details, the depth really makes the piece pop, as with the Phoenix, it's only in the second picture that you see the true piece, outstanding work .. what teapot !!! one sacrifice that was worth it.

It has to do well at the AAW .. has my vote .. if I could vote.

Cheers  David

Hello Mike,

I have admire your work for a long while. This piece is stunning and certainly deserved the acceptance into the 'Rising' exhibition.  You keep raising the bar for the rest of us.

Thanks,  Robert

Mike,

at first I saw the carving as a flame, as in from a crucible, then I saw it was a bird, the phoenix, no wonder it was selected for display at the AAW National Symposium, it is just so many things to the eye.

All the best in the judging.

This is really different in a wonderful way. I can't think of a better way to use a teapot personally (being a coffee addict). Is the photo actually a colour one of in black and white to enhance the effect?

1st Class

Good luck, but I don't think you will be needing luck, this is too good for any words I can think of.

The Depth You Have Achieved With The Airbrush Is Outstanding.
A Very Worthy Piece For The Symposium.

When I first saw the first picture I thought this looked great then when I went onto the second and saw that the bird is cut out of the goblet shape I changed my mind and thought Fantastic. Paint work is a credit to you as well

Thank you all for your kind words, they really are appreciated.

Pete, it is black and white just as it appears in the photo, no colour.  Michael.
