more spirals
« on: April 11, 2014, 03:07:08 AM »
I think I'm getting a bit of a rut over these spirals. This one Camphor Laurel 23cm x 19cm, oiled with BLO Camphor Laurel.
When it dries, which could be awhile as the weather is damp. I will wax it and buff it.

I'll tell you what, Hughie, if ever I find myself in such a rut I'll happily wallow in it for a while before trying to climb out. Your usual spiral forms are always great to see, so this one came as a bit of a surprise when we saw the TIP picture a couple of weeks ago. Glad to see that it lives up to our expectations.

Hi Hughie,

Now I'm seeing a vortex, a spinning column of air.

But it's going the wrong way around, then again being an antipodean the coriolis effect makes your winds spin different to ours.

Looking forward to another picture when the form is dry, I'd like to think that the 'blades' will twist and warp outwards slightly, bringing it a whole new aspect of interest.

Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

Should be OK as the drying is for the BLO and the actual blank was very dry . So much so the BLO  disappeared almost immediately as it was applied .

As always Hughie we find your work very pleasing to the eye.
   A very well executed piece.
