African blackwood bowl
« on: April 18, 2014, 02:51:26 PM »
Hello folks

I made this bowl from a piece of African blackwood branch wood recently, its 8" wide by 2 1/2" tall and is finished with u-beaut's EEE and shellwax cream

I love the simplicity of this George. Right up my street. Quite a change to your usual precise boxes etc. I doubt it was that simple to make though as you have it looking very fragile and delicate.

The colour is stunning would have liked to have seen a photo more from the top of the piece.

George,

the original (lower angle) photos show the perfection and balance of the curve of the bowl you've created. The higher angle shows better the dramatic contrast in the colours, I don't think I've ever seen blackwood sapwood before, what a wonderful yellow.

thank you for your comments, the sapwood is certainly a very striking contrast with the heartwood Bryan.

George, one stunning banana dish in form and colors, can fault the beauty.
