Hi Hughie

Wonderful I love the shape.

You have inspired me to have a go at these and I'm working on a open spiral form at the moment.

Very nice piece Hughie, the spirals and the form work well together. What would I give for some Silky Oak, WA She Oak, or some Camphor Laurel.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

In part yes, also files, rasps etc. I mark the spirals out in pencil and chisel the outline with the dremel and take it from there.

And Cling Film (plastic Wrap), Gaffa tape, Sweat, Tear, Panic and Prayers, at least it would if I tried to do something as open as this.

Hughie, as amazing as always.

Essential for doing hollow forms with cracks, splits or voids in them unless you like explosions at a few hundred revs.
