Acorns in natural edge bowl
«

Here is a natural edge bowl turned from a black cherry scar (I believe) with three acorn shaped lidded boxes made from white oak and river red gum from Australia and two acorns made entirely from hard maple with pyrography.
The bowl is about 8 inch in diameter.
C and C welcome.
Regards.

Hi Sevilla. I especially like the effect of the pyrography on the acorns, but having said that, they are all good pieces that work really well as a group.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Really interesting boxes, larger than you'd thing to turn an acorn. And well presented in the Cherry bowl, which is well turned in it's own right. Can I see ripples in the timber at the back edge?

Black Cherry .. my .. most stunning piece an in NE Bowl, much of our Cherry is ornamental flowering.
That's some nicely formed, detailed and finished acorns, job a beaut, well done.
Cheers David
