Robert Sorby Xmas videos
« on: December 19, 2014, 06:01:09 AM »
What on earth is Robert Sorby doing with their Xmas videos that they keep sending out to us in unsolicited emails?

Here's the text of an email I've sent to them.....
Hi.....I value Robert Sorby as a tool supplier and am generally happy to have unsolicited emails from you, but I find one aspect of your current batch of emails rather irritating. Why, oh why could you not find a UK woodturner to demonstrate these simple projects? With a skill level this basic, you might have done well to find a budding young UK turner and give him or her a wonderful opportunity to make a video like this. Surely we didn't need to go half way around the world to find somebody to turn a little snowman and a honey dipper!

Les

I think that is campaign from Sorby as not been very well thought out, they should have been doing this during October or even November to give new woodturners and less talented woodturners than yourself simple projects for Christmas.

Sorby's properly have more customers in America than anywhere else, and they too will be getting these emails so I can see why they have video in this way.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

I fully agree it is kind of annoying, surely they could have made a separate (UK) version of the videos.

Personally I don't care as I am now a very wealthy man, I have won £85.000 on the post code lottery (all I have to do is send my details and pay a fee to release the funds) I have also been asked by an ex USA Army Major to give him my details so he can deliver a case of cash to me for safe keeping. I have been chosen (on more than one occasion) and because I seem like a nice chap, to be the recipient of thousands of dollars which have been secreted away from corrupt governments and now the money needs a safe bank account in which it can stay and for doing this I will get a quarter of the funds.
I never realised there were so many worthy causes out there so I have replied to them all giving the details they asked for but so far I have not received any money, don't suppose anybody knows why?

Incidentally, my bank account seems to be empty, can't make it out?????????????? ; :'( :'( :'(

Merry Christmas
Andy ;D

Hi Les and happy Christmas to you - you have obviously signed up to receive the RS e-mail adds as have I
but after seeing the first one I just press the delete button, if you don't want to receive them anymore there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the e-mail. All the clips are available on U-Tube, it certainly isn't worth getting wound up about. Have a great holiday break Les    ---    Julian
