Three ebonised oak hollow forms. Some gilding and texturing on them. The smallest is 220mm tall inc. finial, largest is 355mm inc finial. The finials are longer than perhaps is usual but look OK in real life.

Pig to photograph for some reason.

Pete remember the piece I made sitting on the black pyramid? coundn't get a decent picture of that either, perhaps it is because black or dark wood doesn't photograph very well? Not sure. ???

Very nice Pete.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

The reason that black doesn't photograph well, is that it isn't a colour, it is a total lack of reflected light, and cameras do like to search for a colour, therefore cameras have to find some way of identifying it, hence the blue, because that's the nearest colour, tonally.
Science lesson over!

Having said all that, nice job, Pete. I like the aged appearance of them. I think that I prefer the first of them, if I had to choose.

Pete,

I think these are good shapes and the last one with the textured/roughed finish I do really like.

The only thing I'm not struck on is the finial on the top one, the shape along it's length lacks definition and the pointy top seems oversize and does not sit well at all I'm afraid.

Now why did you have to go and say that!! looking at it you're right, I was happy with it until you mentioned it. Ah well, at leats it is easier to remake a finial than the hollow form LOL.

If someone said they liked the finial , would you then have to make a new vessel ?    lol ..

Nah, put that down to bad taste LOL. I accept that not everyone likes the same thing but when dr4g0nfly mentioned it I saw it myself so I have to change. I tend to make these things in a way that allows for adaptation change etc. It can look great o the lathe and for maybe a week but then things start to look wrong. It's usually a good month or two before I put things up for sale.
