I have felled an awful lot of macrocarpa over the years and honestly feel it is much better for burning than turning !! I made a bowl for some one who,s trees I felled in France a few years ago and it was OK but it is rather easy to dent / scratch and I would not bother with it again myself . It is a good timber though , light , strong and very decay resistant and chainsaw carvers like it , good for garden furniture , and good bits I used to sell to a big boatyard near Dartmouth which has now sadly closed and been developed . It is also one half of Leylandii ( which is a hybrid ) so the wood has some similarities .
