Quilted elm
« on: August 20, 2015, 08:24:33 PM »
A quilted elm (if there is such a thing) bowl....300 x 60. Pretty enough to stand alone - no more work needed.

George.......it don't need colour
Ed..............it don't need candy-floss
Tony & Di...it don't need a frog
Pete...........it don't need holes
Mark..........it don't need bamboo or whisps of smoke rising jauntily from its core

C&C always welcome...Les

Beautiful; wood, beatiful turning, but ( I have to find something !!) I agree with george, a small cove on the rim would finish it off.

Also it should be 'doesn't' not don't. LOL

Plan and simple and nature's done the colouring.

Lovely looking piece Les

I might have to have another go at this round and brown thing it would be a lot quicker and cheaper :)

All the best

Ed

Les - It needs one of your penguins stood on top of the iceberg. :)

Beautiful work with beautiful wood.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Very nice Les piece of wood with a nice form.  Oh I don't know some smoke rising from one of the Red Rocks with a North American Indian sat on his horse would look pretty good.  :)

Les, I recommend you leave it to the purchaser to decide what they want to add to it, my guess would be just fruit but I've been wrong before of course.

That soft sheen is just right in this platter, I really like it as it is.
