And some more goblets............
« on: October 24, 2015, 11:44:24 AM »
Sorry george LOL.

These are all medieval style and made in pairs though if people want to buy them singly then they can. One pair are a 'his and hers' as one is slightly smaller than the other....I'll let the new owners decide who has which. They are made from odd bits of wood (what else LOL?)including lignum vitae, spalted sycamore, beech, padauk and an unknown dark hardwood. Coated with a liquid proof, alchohol resistant lacquer so they can be used. C&C welcome as usual.

Hi Bodrighywood
I really like top two but the middle pair IMO it looks as though they were rushed maybe the photograph does not do it justice
The bottom to look ok as individuals
What lacquer did you seal the inside with

The centre ones are in a very spalted sycamore with padauk stems. I assure you they took as long as the others to make LOL. Thre finish I use at thre moment is rustins 2 part plasticote, made for kitchen floors and worktops. Only other one that I have tried with success is treatex oil, several coats. Melamine, cellulose etc all get eaten through by alchohol in time.

Pete,

I've seen these by you before.

i do like the cabochon ring near the top (wood or stone cabochon's) it really works well.

But can I ask why you add the lower area where the goblet steps out. I can't see a purpose for it and it disrupts the overall  line of the goblet for me.

Thank you Brian,

you will have seen similar but these have only just been finished. The section you mention is simply part of the design I use, I research different shapes and designs, some translate from glass, silver etc to wood, some don't. These seem toand have proved to be the most popular as far as sales go.
