« on: October 27, 2015, 07:50:54 PM »
2 platters from adjacent crotch pieces of cherry.
each 225mm by 15mm final size.
Turned on faceplates with glueblocks for tenons.
patterning by burr and pyrography
finished using sanding sealer and paste wax with hot air to melt wax caught in bark and inclusions

C&C always welcome
Nick

How refreshingly different and the best thing is that you'll never have to clean that mirror!  ;)

Love it...Les

Great Idea   Nick...... And they are very neatly done.... The burr and pyro work blend in really well with the inclusions
on these  well turned and thought out pieces. Like Them
   Kind Regards

Thank you all for such positive comments.
I have not been at this for long and am still awestruck by the wonderful natural beauty of wood.
I made the first platter (on right of frame) and was so pleased that I had to have a go at the other face of the cherry trunk. I was a bit apprehensive because the gaps and inclusions got larger as I turned but it all held together without recourse to aids.
Once the platters were mounted on stands the frame just suggested itself.

Regards
Nick
