Opps They cracked

  As always these platters are turned by Tony..... The rims have been crackled using a different method from an earlier post.
  Although on the first platter I managed to get large cracks I did not get the depth..... the second platter is more the effect
  I was after ..... but still playing.
  As always your comments are most welcome.

they look great, it the cracking isn't achieved by painting over some severe charring then i'd like to know how its done.

   Thank You Steve...... The Idea / Inspiration came from a combination of Ancient Frescoes and the Plant Pot in the extra Pic.
   I`m still playing around with this idea and in the process of transferring it onto a H/F.... Will post the results when finished

The colour of the first one Orange (Vermilion) I love, not too sure about the second but it is certainly more like the colours in the garden urn you show, so i can see where you are trying to go.

   Thank You Bryan ..  The second one was an exercise to try and get a crumbly deeply cracked look..... The main base colour on both
   platters are the same Iron Oxide but have reacted differently ..... one orange... one too pink. Although again the second ones colour
   is a lot darker looking at it sat on the shelf..... The crackle medium is very unpredictable and takes a day or two to even start the
   cracking proses. Than its a bit of pot luck to what you get..... Think any future pieces will require a lot more thought.

I quite like these , very different , I prefer the first one personally ... good to see new ideas being tried out and sure there is scope for further experiments and inspiration on this theme ... good stuff !
