Hi Dennis - I won't reply to all of your posts but just to say welcome to this forum I think you will enjoy it and may well learn something as we may learn from you. Very nice turning by the way as always.  Julian

Hello Dennis....you clearly have access to quite a stock of timber - very few of us ever get to work on a 14" x 6" lump of burr. Whilst I like the overall shape, there's a couple of features that concern me with this.
Firstly, the finish. Looking at the rim, I can see both dull patches and what appears to be high gloss patches, whilst in the hot-spot of light inside the bowl the finish appears less than perfect.
Secondly, the definition of the shape of the pedestal itself. I don't like the way that the widest part of the column is blended into the rest and just rounded over; I would have preferred something a bit crisper and finer in detail.

Les  (p.s. it really would help if you could re-size these images before you post them)
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Great to see you work. In relation to the photo size, you need to reduce the dimensions but leave the resolution around 90 dpi that way you will still get a good picture but one that is smaller in size. But even at the dpi you have I would have thought the picture would be less pixelated, not quite sure what is happening as I am not a guru in such things. HOpefully someone can help you more than me.

Good to see a new member posting pictures of work , and plenty of it as well , good stuff and a nice selection of woods ......... however the dimensions of this one confuse me .. 14 x 6 ?  it looks as tall as it is wide !  lovely wood though !

I can only reinforce Les (Gwyntog's) comments. I'm afraid the pedestal's shape lets it down, it needs definition to make it work.
