A nod to Dave ( Ellsworth NOT Cameron !!!)
« on: December 31, 2015, 07:52:32 PM »
With obvious similarities and inspiration by Mr Ellsworths scorched H/F's  ..I have used a crotch from an Ash tree and after scorching I sanded through the char in the most intense areas of figuring to reveal the underlying grain , before burnishing . oiling and buffing ...I have a few others almost finished and wood for several more put aside .... I find a scorched piece ( this is not my first ) always sits well in a display with other more conventional R&B pieces .. ( this one is approx 12-13" tall ) Terry .

Terry,

having read Ellsworth's book, I can defiantly see both the inspiration and know the series that gave rise to it.

Excellently done.

Lovely effect. the 'simple' shape allows the wood to do all the talking.

Many thanks to everyone ......... I am really enjoying scorching wood at present , i find it is a great way of make a fairly plain piece of wood much more exciting ( usually !)  I have some other projects on the go involving scorching including some furniture , some in collaboration with another craftsman / artist.. Terry .
