Lamp Stand for a Seamstress
« on: January 03, 2016, 10:43:47 PM »
I have a friend who's partner is a Seamstress. He asked me if I can make her a Table Lamp Stand and described this.

He wants to bind the 3 bobbins with coloured cotton so it looks like 3 cotton reels stacked up and will add a shade himself.

Height 255mm (11") Base 120mm (4½")

C& C as you will.

A question not C&C. The brass fitting you have seems to be one of the ones that have the cable coming out of the side of itbut you have a hole in the side of the base of the candle stick so i assume yo have drilled down. Am I seeing things wrong or is there a reason?

Crisp and clean...we'd expect no less of an accomplished spindle turner.

As Julian says,

the earth connection is on the side of the fitting. The earth braid does have access through the brass body, it's just the securing screw on the outside.

I think its a little ugly as an arrangeent, but space inside it limited.

Thanks for the explanation. Not seen this arrangement before.

Will you wire this one Bryan or leave to the customer.

I think this would look nice with cotton wound onto it three different colours.

George,

You've hit it on the head, he wants to wind on 3 different colours, the upright is not yet glued in to allow it to be more easily wound. He's a fisherman so knows how to load a spool.

As for the electrics, I'm easy either way, me or him can wire it. We are both exREME. Yes I'm aware of the electrical regs that require PAT testing. That is something we can sort out through work, we have the technology, and can get it tested.
