Danish Oil ?

I like it Hughie

Graham
I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

As Graham has said Danish Oil I mix my own. Its actually much cheaper to do so, plus you can formulate it they way you want as well

Hughie,

I like the work although the images are a little on the large side. I downloaded the exterior shot so I could see it better.

I think you've carved the coves around the bowl as they are irregular in their position (move up & down slightly) so cannot have been turned when making the bowl.

As for making your own DO, not always so easy here in the UK. Mr Elf & Mr Safety do their best to stop us buying raw materials or anything they think is dangerous.

I need some vinyl glue which I used to buy very easily from the likes of Woolworths, but because it contains a substance called MEK (Methyl ethyl ketone, e.g. the glue that can sniffed) you cannot buy it anywhere.

If the images posted are too large hold the Ctrl key and scroll with the mouse, one way will decrease size, other one increase.

P.S. beautiful wood and looks lovelyh and simple....not always easy to do.

Are yes those who look  out for our safety, representatives from the 'Nanny State'  I tend where possible ignore them as ill- informed scare mongers.
But back to the bowl, yes they are carved mainly with a Dremel and I choose the irregular and somewhat random design to off the set the simple lines of the bowl plus add some grip to it as it will be heavy when full
Images, I found it hard to get a decent image of the darn thing, very frustrating.
Hopefully this image will help

Very rich in colour and unusual looking wood  Hughie ...... The oil finish seem to have added depth to the richness of its colour
