Cherry HF (coloured)
« on: May 25, 2016, 11:19:16 PM »
Okay, I'll probably make this my last coloured HF for a bit as you're probably getting bored with them now, lol. This one is a piece of Cherry 5.5" x 3.75" and with no finial this time, just a small collar.

C&C's welcome as usual.

Best Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,
I'm not sure if there's too little wood for my taste. The colours work well together but I do like to see the wood underlying the finish.
Also, the neck appears to reduce to a very narrow opening, I think a beaded neck/collar would look better to my taste.

Thanks for posting Gary
Cheers Rick

Hi Rick, thanks for your comments. I agree about some wood showing, and most of the time I do leave some, unfortunately on this piece it "blew up" twice and was repaired twice so there was little option on doing it the way I wanted to. Not wanting to bin it to the fire I persevered and this was the end result.
Cheers again.

Best regards

GARY

A great result considering the journey it has been through..certainly worth salvaging.

Cheers

I don't have a problem with you posting coloured work Gary,

Sometimes sycamore, ash, cherry etc, (the lighter woods) can be very bland and no matter what you do, they cannot be decorative, so colour must be the answer, in whatever form you choose.

Many thanks Brian, I agree about the bland wood, and what's more, I really enjoy doing it.
