I, and I suspect Record themselves, couldn't agree with you more, George, but in strictly legal terms I think you will find that the contract of sale is with the retailer NOT Record.

Thanks agin for all your comments.
I bought it on the internet brand new from a dealer - not an odd bod and of course they referred me to Record straight away.
I have sent Record the same picture - they say it is 'acceptable' so I am stuck with it!........
re the new toolrest - we were hoping that buying it from Yandles would exclude the need to go back to Record again, but looks like that has failed too!
Basically though I am right in thinking that the rest itself, when in its lowest setting, should be seated in the assembley- not perched 5mm above? (which is what this does due to the new camlock)
