SWMBO Upcycled Wall Cabinet
« on: July 03, 2016, 05:20:47 PM »
SWMBO asked me if I'd post a couple of pictures of her upcycled cabinet that shes been using the chalk paint on. The pictures are a material with  country scenes on it in blues, she's adapted it to use as the cupboard lining and door panels.

I can see several ideas coming out of the application of material into turned work coming out of tgis.

Of course C&C welcome.

There's obviously quite a trend in this sort of work, but I've seen some shockingly awful examples of it in shops and on facebook. This, however, bucks the trend and really excites me. For this sort of effect to work well, it strikes me that the finished piece should look as though the ravages of time have made it look that way, and this does.

p.s. ... I see a pretty little candlestick in one picture - where on earth did she get that from ;)

Guy's,

Rosemary will be pleased to read your comments, thank you.

George,

she can have my workshop any time she wants it. I'd swap her for her craft cabin that is bigger than my poor 1960's garage. What I am worried about is her eyeing up my tools, it starts with can I borrow a ...., then, it's I need one of these and oop's I've lost it!

Les,

Ah, the candlestick. She 'borrowed' one for the upcycling course to have something different and extra to decorate. Then she managed to sell several pairs to some of the other people on the course (so I'm not really complaining) and now she wants anything that I'm not 100% happy with.

So if she can add paint to turnings I'm not happy with, and make something better of it she'll probably get a few of the bowls I've recently posted recently and any in the future as well.
