Coloured Hollow Form
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:09:18 PM »
Hi all,

Managed to get some time in the workshop this weekend so I spent a bit of time playing with this piece of Sycamore. The form is 6" x 4" and with the ash finial is 9" tall.

Jo Sonja iridescent paints and black stain on the finial.  C & C's welcome

The random way you have done the colouring Gary really sets this piece off. Its got a great 3d depth effect to it.
      well captured.

      Kind Regards

Cheers George, the good news is the buyer loves it finial and all, which is the main thing. As you know we all like different things.
Many thanks again, regards. Gary

I love these cosmic pieces Gary you have found a way to use the iridescent paints to their best advantage. Great pieces and I see from other forums and FB that you have set a trend with many others using the technique ..... a sure sign of success!

Like George I was not sure about the finial, but you can't argue with a happy customer.

I really like where you are taking the Jo Sonja paints, I think you've used a straw to blow out from the centre of the paint to create this effect.

many thanks Brian, yes I like playing with these paints just now. You nearly got it right with the application, I use an airbrush in a similar way.
