Ed, don't take this wrong, but after the sombre colours of your first poppy vase, the gold on this one is a bit garish.

Don't worry I won't take it the wrong way. There's a new poppy this year that's gold for the commemoration of The Battle of the Somme hence the colours.

Not normally my sort of thing but I like this a lot.  Only crit I'd make is about the texturing:  It seems mixed....in parts (particularly on the bottom third or so) it is very regimented, in other parts it seems to flow around the poppies (love that effect) and in others it appears quite random (particularly around the 'spout').  For me it would feel more of a 'whole' if the texturing was regularised over the whole piece, whether that is regimented, random or flowing or whatever. 

Having said that I do like this a lot.
