Found in Garden
« on: December 04, 2016, 03:26:45 PM »

Thought I would post this.... Its a piece we did some time ago and decided to finish it last week ... the H/F is Walnut
turned thin and coated here and there with stucco paste and treated with a combination of Metal Paints and Patinas.
The finial disc is Pewter treated with ageing acid treatment and finished with a Pewter Coil.

I'm seeing an artifact that has been buried in the ground for many a year. I think that you were braver than I would have been to try a highly polished finial with such a distressed texture.....yet it works, and it works well.

Not sure about this though I suspect seeing it in the flesh (0r wood?) it would be different. Like the overall effect but not sure if it is a step too far with the finish on the form. Things can be so different when viewes for real.

Thank You Pete....yes we have taken it away from wood this time but that's where  the enjoyment of experimenting comes

Tony, Di,

I love this, again you show that wood can be nothing more than a base for other finishes.

One small observation, be careful where you show it, the local archaeological office will think you've been out with a metal detector and not submitting your finds.

It effect you've created truly does look that real.

     Thank You Bryan
There are so many new products out there now  and many can be borrowed from the Art & Craft market opening
   new doors all the time.

At the moment I`m working on a surface texture and colour to reproduce a tasty bit of stilton cheese just for GBF  :D :D

   Much Appreciated

Thanks Ed..... Had a lot of fun with this one ...went for a bright finial to hopefully contrast and give the piece a lift.

To tell the truth, many moons ago it started its life as a marbling demo .. its been through many lives since.  :)

Kind Regards ..  Di & Tony
