how to make your own fiddleback
« on: December 09, 2016, 09:29:36 PM »
I havent posted for awhile due work constraints and gallery work, not to mention the coming festive season.
This piece is heart Camphor Laurel with a little bit of sap layer to give it contrast, although in this shot its not there. It stands 27cm high with a girth of 15cm. Its been oiled a couple of times with DO and heavily buffed.
Random convex embellishment couldnt really call it spirals :).
The inspiration for this one comes from two areas. Initially one of those Chinese wire bound paper lanterns and the ripples and reflections in a pond . It can be either depending on your view point.

A lovely piece of wood Hughi , Turned to Perfection someone, somewhere, may have turned like this before

But I Have Certainly Never Seen It

A great twist (no pun intended), bet you have moved that around a lot. Its even playing tricks with our eyes  :)
          Kind Regards ..Tony di

Hughie,

My eyes did not know where to focus, almost a wooden optical illusion, what a fantastic effect you've created there.
