Stone-dust fillers

I'm thinking of using some stone dust fillers in place of the copper and brass that I use frequently, but can't find much info about it. just wondering who's using stone dust these days, what sources there are in the UK, and what effect they have on our tools when cut back.
I've done a search on Google, but most of what I see is intended for use as stone-polishing powder, so I'm none the clearer about what to buy.

I plan to use it as a filler for splits and cracks, probably with 2-part epoxy.

from what I've seen on American's using stone as filler, it's mostly semi-precious stones they use. I've not seen a reliable source of these in the UK.

But reading your opening comment I had a thought, have you tried a local monumental mason (Marbles) or kitchen finishing (Granite worktops) type establishment. They grind their stones smooth with a wet diamond method, it may be that you can acquire some of their old tailings.

Stone fillers are difficult to find in this country but you can get glass powders . Go here and look for the 'frit sample packs'. They come on various grades from ppowder to coarse

I've put a message on the WT|U site to see what they come up with, but |I must admit, Pete, that your link looks very interesting. Might well invest in a half kilo of turquoise frit.

if you do, let us know how you work it, I know it's a dust but it is glass.

I use it the same as any other filler, with CA glue. The powder tends to finish a lighter colour than you expect but apart from that it isn't a problem. I did check up on safety aspects if that is what you are thinking and found that glass powder is no more dangeroous than sawdust etc so just take same precautions when sanding back.  This is one piece with blue glass frit used this way.
