Jarrah Burr
« on: April 08, 2017, 12:20:08 AM »
Something a little different to my usual. I was given this piece of Jarrah from my good friend David Atkinson. It was about 8x5x2 (not measured it yet, lol) and rectangular-ish in shape. I planned to turn the bowl part and cut it to a fancy shape but decided to leave it as the shape it was given to me. Finished with finishing oil and quite delicate due to the amount of burr.
C & C's welcome.
Regards  Gary.

Very nice indeed, love the wood and that you left the voids in the piece instead of trying to fill them

Wow Gary,  That's one cracking piece .. offset bowl and fine even wing thickness given the very long wing an more miss than hits with the cuts.

It had to be off balance/balanced well for being burr and not all disintegrating onto the floor.

Sits very well, nice lines, finish and very attention grabbing and tactile .. is it a like ..  YES

And thanks to a very nice Friend in give you the piece... there's a gentleman indeed.

Cheers for sharing David

Gary,

go on, admit it, you borrowed Ed's trained termites.

Either that or nerves of steel, loving this.

"Trained termites". I'll have to remember that. That's a cracker of a bowl.
