Rosemary's Ort Pot
« on: April 09, 2017, 08:55:48 PM »
Some time ago, Gwyntog posted an image of an Ort Pot  he'd turned. I had never heard of such a thing.(https://www.awgb.co.uk/awgbforum/index.php/topic,4107.msg35265.html#msg35265

But I had a left over Sapele pot from some samples I'd made for a man and gave it to SWMBO thinking she'd use it to hold things on her sewing workbench.

But she asked if I could make it a lid, and I thought 'Ort Pot' and what else for a lid than a button.

So just for fun, here is my take on an Ort Pot: Base is Sapele 100mm x 55mm, Lid is Oak 115mm x 10mm.

C& C if you wish, thanks for looking.

Holes could have been a bit tidier Bryan and the lacquer continued into the holes.
Just being picky

I must admit George, I drilled the holes after I'd finished the lid and dismounted it, the through holes are bare of any finish, but you are right they could do with something.

Les,

Yes, I snuck it in and left it laying about. I often get asked to make her wooden buttons of various sizes, so at first she though I'd made her a really large one.

Can't beat a few bonus points from SWMBO.
