Ash fruit dish with stylised flower

Ash dish 9 x 1/12 inch dyed with the flower left natural with an accent ring around the rim finished with wax.

Okay, so I've been scratching my head over this one. It almost give the look of an inlay/marquetry work.

Somehow you've applied something to the raw wood so that the dye does not reach under it, leaving the colour natural. Care to share what/ how you did it.

I like it, always good to see new techniques being explores and effects created.

The pattern was created with a stencil made from adhesive draw liner. I suppose it's the same as sticky back plastic, it makes a great mask and peels away with no adhesive residue and no colour leeches passed it

Thank you, I was working on the assumption it was cut from masking tape or airbrush frisket.
