Walnet Vase
« on: June 09, 2017, 03:14:31 PM »
First time in ages had a few moments to kill so picked up an offcut of Walnut and a short spell on the lathe.

Measures 4" high and 2 3/4" at its widest about 3 or 4mm thick. Finished with sanding sealer then Renaissance wax.

Cheers Martin.

Hi Martin,

I think the dimensions say more Pot than Vase to me but I like the effect that has been created by the way you've cut the wood, leaving the growth wood over the heartwood with the much stronger grain.

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

The orientation  of this piece of wood really suits the piece Martin.
