Ok a little advise from those of you who cast resin, if the pressure pot more important to a good finish than the vacuum chamber?

vacuum pots are no good for casting resins you need a pressure pot.
Careful mixing of the resin with the colour and the hardener needs to be done gently so as not to impart too many bubbles. I use to mix the colour in first and let that settle which allowed most of the bubbles to float to the surface then added the hardener, at this stage it needs to go into the pot and be pressurised which compresses any small bubbles making them appear as though they have disappeared
The only resin which you can get away without using a pot is polyester.
A vacuum pot is ideal for stabilising wood with or without colour where you draw out the air and when the pressure is released the liquid it is in will be drawn into the wood making sure it has fully penetrated and making things like punky wood more stable to use
