Playing with spheres, ouch
« on: February 11, 2018, 06:59:14 PM »
I thought that I would have a go at turning a sphere and hollowing the midle out of it keeping it in one piece rarther than turning two halfs and glueing them back together.
It was all going well until i heard them fatal words ( just one last cut, just one last cut ) as it was a test piece i had turned it near round and hollowed it out to the near round.
Instead of leaving it i decided to put it back on the lathe and turn it to the round, ouch and lessn learnt it is now bigger on the inside than the outside in one place.  ;D
I did put some decoration on this one as a test and i hope that someone learns from my mistake. Les

So you turned a TARDIS, yeah, we've all done it!

Shame as the sphere as seen in the image looks very well done.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

I think that I will stick to making a few more Spheres before moving on to Chinese balls Derek and many thanks for looking and your comments mate.

I like your thinking dr4gonfly, TARDIS says it all. Many thanks for looking and commenting on my work. its very much appreciated. Les

This is my second go at turning a sphere, its made out of freshly cut yew so its still wet and this one looks nothing like a TARDIS  ;)
