i found a nail in the bit of wood that i was turning

I was given a lump of Ash so I cut it up with the chainsaw and put it on the lathe only to find a large nail hiding deep inside.
Don't you just hate it when this happens

Hate it when it comes out like this but it can also enhance a piece.

I normally find them with the chainsaw   :-[  this is only my second one found when turning.
I was trying to make a large sphere and then hollow out the middle of it, I ended up with a hollowed out sphere but two inches smaller than what I was hoping for.

Rusty Steel in Oak makes for interesting colours, shame the nails int he Ash have not done the same for you.
