Oh yes indubitably. Just make sure they are lignum vitae not lignite or some other plastic equivalent.

Pete

Have checked and they are LV. I got them from my sister who is the ladies captain of a club in cirencester

An interesting topic, I have startrite 401S for the last 12 yers, I took the option of ceramic guides when ordering. Whilst they are effective they are not indistructable and I had to replace  a couple a few years ago, the cost was exorbitant. Reading the suggestions it could be Lignum may be an alterative. does any one have experiance of using it? any suggestions?

I have flattened and put back in my cool blocks they are just very short now and difficult to get into place within the guide holders. I was thinking about using a self lubricating plastic such as ptfe and just machining to size, will check Fleabay and see what I can find.

PTFE rod maybe the answer as 500mm is only £7 and easily cut to length, self lubricating resists heat and easy to work with.

lignum is much better than PTFE mate.

lots of people on the facebook forums i am on have used it for blocks and swear by it.

considering it has a higher roll factor than teflon i think it would work well.

i'm going to make some myself when i get the chance.

hartwood, if you want an old split lawn bowl then if you pay postage it's yours.
