Do You Ever-
« on: July 31, 2018, 08:17:54 PM »
Do you ever have one of those days where silliness takes over. Well today was one of those times just found the brightest colours I could and coloured the rim of this bowl. Funnily the wife loves it will have to take the white stick off of her and beat her around the head  ;D ;D ;D

Silly comments welcome as the usual ones

Clarice would have been delighted!

Not a silly comment, more an expression of genuine belief.

As Clarice is posibly my least favourite pottery style I am afraid that this has to rate down there with her work. Having said that her work sells for a lot more than mine so my taste is irrelevant. Like what you have done as far as qua.;lity goes, just not a fan of this type of decorative work.

Thank you guys. It is surprising how many people liked this (around different forums) considering that it was just done for the shear hell of it. Mow to get back to some serious work. I am not sure what will happen to this one yet.
I must confess Clarice Cliffe never came to mind until a few people here mentioned it

Derek it may be the definition of my computer but the black lines need to be crisper IMHO. However, apart from that I like it. If it were me doing it I would cover the colours with a clear high gloss finish, Rustins plastic coating or similar. I once made a similar bowl with a Paisley pattern, it was sold before it reached the shop shelf.

I put the lines in with a pyrography machine this was just a moment of silliness ;D

I love it, too! It's good to have a bit of fun once in a while. All work and no play and all that.

Nice piece well decorated with plenty of bold colour. I agree about the black borders between the colour blocks. I think it would be better if they were a little bolder. Having said that well done. We all need and have mad moments, and of they turn out this well, then so much the better. Malcolm.

For the pyro use a very fine wire amd keep the heat down. You can get extremely fine detail if you're careful.

I will be the first to admit that I need to use the machine more to get the feel of it to it's full potential but as they say practice practice practice.

It's not unattractive.

That sounds like a back handed compliment, but really what it's saying is although there is nothing really outstanding about this piece of work, it hold it's own and there is nothing, not to like.

Basically, 'It Works', and if it works, it's right.
