burr chestnut vase

A little vase from sweet chestnut burr, size is about 150mm tall x 100mm diameter at its widest, finish is sanding sealer then buffed with some mops , as usual c&c welcome

Gorgeous wood and well finished. Not really a fan of the shape personally, prefer a bit more sweep to the curve but that's personal taste.

Yes, a stunning piece of wood and a good overall form. The detail around the rim is lovely. One of those where potentially improving the form by, say, making the base dimension a bit smaller, one would waste lovely timber and markings. I particularly like the last of the images.

That burr has got everything, ripple, quilting, feather and I'm not sure what to call the flecks in the last photo, but not birdseye  though.
Then polished to a great finish - amazing

Certainly is a great piece of timber. I agree with the comment about the form a little smaller of the foot and opening  would make a difference
