In between snowmen
« on: October 11, 2018, 09:17:24 AM »
Having to make several hundred snowmen, penguins and assorted other Christmas decorations for shows can get a bit tedious. Fortunately I do get to make other things as well. This little pair of candlesticks are made from some of the ebony I was left by a friend. Gorgeous wood to turn. They stand 7" (180mm) tall and polished up they really shine. Not often I actually like my own work but these stand out for me.

The shine on them makes getting a decent image difficult I'm afraid.
C&C welcome as always

Pete

Love the goblets and the high gloss suits them. My problem is getting the shine to show when photographing pieces.

Simple, yet very effective. Love the shine and how well matched they are.

Thank you Peter

For this size candlestick I use the standard ones that you can get from most suppliers such as Axminster etc. Google candle cups and you will see various types in brass, chrome, steel etc. I also use glass t light holders for larger candles and for bigger ones again I either get spiked plates from Candle Cavern or make my own out of pewter. Again, Google candle plate and you will see a variety. There are some junky ones out there mind so cheap isn't always best. I have also been known to adapt various heat proof items sourced from charity shops, boot sales etc.

Pete,

I've just looked at these again. Where did you get those Candle Cups, I can't find anything like them anywhere. These days they are all those shallow pressed steel/brass plated things.
