Digging through the mounds of wood that have accumulated can reveal some lovely bits and pieces.
1st is from a pile of laburnum I have had lying around for a year or more. This piece was borderline with lots of splits radiating out. All ready to start rotting. These have all been filled and sealed in true Kintsugi style with brass. The base is 6" (150mm) tall and overall with the chimney it is 16" 410mm) tall. The chimney is for an oil lamp so heat proof and it has a removable glass insert to hold the candle
2nd is an unknown wood (Steve?) that is heavily spalted. Expected it to be very soft but surprisingly hard. Decided to use it to m ake a tea bowl style vessel. It measures 4" (110mm) diameter and is 5 1/4" (135mm) tall. Both are finished with carnauba wax polish applied fast with buffing wheels. C&C welcome as always.
