Peace

This made from a piece of flat board I found th\t just happenned to have some amazing feathering in it. Decided to just simply turnit round, slightly concave, turned it on a work screw so it has a hole right through it. Then turned a cabuchon from a scrap of bubinga and left a long 8mm dowel at the back which I then glued into a mape strut I turned and cut in half on the bandsaw. This allows the disc to be turned The whole thing is pinned onto a black base. The disc can be turned allowing the feathering to catch the light from different angles. The kanji pyro'd onto the support is japanese for peace as the whole feeling of the work just gave us that feeling C&C welcome as always.

Pete, the simplicity of this piece certainly works with it's title of Peace.
Can I ask, as it is apparent from the photos, does the disc rotate in some way, I notice that the darker flame grain's position moves in different pictures.

Sorry Bryan thought i had mentioned it. Yes, the boss pins through the disc to the support behind allowing the disc to be rotated. It catches the light at different angles with the feathering so it becomes adaptable.

Thank you Les. Good thing about this lock down is it gives us a chance to go through all the bits of wood we have lying around and spending time doing things we perhaps wouldn't be able to normally. Personally finding this time very productive.

A clever and novel way to show the very best of a wonderful piece of wood Pete
My workshop now complete and the rust is off most of my equipment having had 4 winter months in a metal shed.
So it's back to turning when the weather prevents gardening - I'm sure that should be the other way round!
Best wishes
Nick

Nice one Pete, using the KISS principle ! A fitting use of the piece of wood.
