Record Herald lathe
« on: December 01, 2020, 05:49:52 PM »
I am seriously thinking of getting a Record Coronet Herald lathe, but I am a little confused by the advertised price. It is heavily advertised as £999.95 VAT included, I have the latest Record phamplet which says it is £100 cheaper, but does not mention VAT. Now Vat on £900 is £180 so it is now £1080, any thoughts?

Also what is the purpose of the black box whch Record seem shy about mentioning? I have heard several stories of what it might be.

It is common practice for discount price to include the VAT so a £100 discount is actually £83.45 from the company plus £16.55 from the government. Bottom line is find it at the best price you can.
TT, AKA Pete, but that name is taken :-)

The Herald is in their winter promotion so the price including VAT is £899.99 until the end of Feb 2021

Thanks, it was just a combination of confusion and a natural sceptism around the price of anything, I will check in the shop soon
