Downsizing is forcing me  say a sad farewell to this very versatile lathe, which has served me very well over the recent past. I was fortunate to obtain a quantity of large diameter monkey puzzle a few years back, which were too large for my previous lathe, and hence an upgrade to this magnificent machine, which proved more than adequate for some serious turning. The lathe comes with a bed extension, which allows for nearly 1.5M between centres when in the raised position, and the best part of 1M diameter work when lowered. To give an idea of what it can do, some of the pieces I worked on were too heavy to lift and a chain hoist on a runway was an essential help.

The very sturdy and heavy cast iron construction helps ensure smooth running and helps minimise vibration when initially turning large out-of-balance pieces. There is a quick and easy high-low speed belt selection, which is complemented by electronic speed control. Compared to mechanical speed control, this is a joy to use, enabling rapid adjustment to suit the task in hand. The electronic reverse is a great asset when finishing certain types of timber. There  is a removable guard which can help limit the trajectory of the odd workpiece which might otherwise go into orbit.

The lathe comes complete with a number of accessories, some of which are standard with the lathe, but additionally the bed extension and Axminster Evolution SK114 precision chuck and set of jaws.

i have one of these magnificent machines, sorry you are having to give it up...

if by chance the buyer does not want the bed extension then i would happily buy it.

Bill21:
Indeed. They look very similar to the Powermatic, another good lathe. I wish I had the space, good luck with the sale.
