Yesterday my club - Cheshire Guild of Woodturners, Wigan Woodturners and Red Rose Woodturners, all Associated Clubs were guests of Axminster Tools at their Warrington Store.
We have a great day with a bit of banter and lots of turning, the guys from Red Rose turned a hat (well almost - they have a little left to do and one of their members demonstrated scrollsaw work).
Russ and Ann from Wigan did a large elm platter and a sapele bowl. and I made these plus showing a new turner how to make a mandrel to turn reels (for ribbons for his sister) which he took away delighted to find a quick way of doing it, and just before we finished I turned another finial pot, very quickly to show a chap how to reverse chuck the pot and the finial and he took it away to have a go later.
We were all supported by or pals from our respected clubs and we have recruited another couple of members.
We're back again later in the year.
