Ash Hollow form
« on: April 17, 2014, 05:26:45 PM »
Still playing with my Crown hollower. Thought I would have a go at a natural edged one but lost the natural edge as it would have looked totally wrong so I left the natural edge shape to the opening.

Hi Derek

as said in another forum, I like this a lot. The natural edge following the grain gives it a lovely organic flow.

Thank you all for the positive comments, which give me the knowledge that I am heading in the right direction. I will be trying this type of hollow form again but with a larger log hopefully being able to keep the bark on next time.

Derek,

I like this but have little detail to base anything on. Any chance of it's dimensions and wall thickness.

However the opening, where the bark has come away leaves an enticing shape for people to ponder over.

Sorry forgot the size It is approximately 75mm tall (sorry can't be more precise it has gone to a new home) The wall thickness I did a measure on and it is between 1 - 1.5mm thick in the walls and 3-4mm in the base I felt it needed a little weight in the bottom
