Lots of fiddling yet to do
« on: February 04, 2015, 07:36:40 PM »
When I make compilations I fiddle around a lot. This one is a little log (about 200mm) that was too full of character to just ignore. The base is a slice from a piece of burr that was otherwise getting ignored. There is a small (80mm) turned piece and Mo has made some copper leaves and etched them. What it will eventually end up like is anyone's guess at this point but might be of interest to some. LOL

Turners don't make mistakes, they have design opportunities

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Hi Pete,
I just love these type of abstract objects.
I prefer the first one without the leaves on the upright tall log. For me I would prefer to leave it natural and the moss growth is a sufficient decoration.
Regards
Ken

I'm sure like you and everyone else, we're looking at 'something' sitting in the cup of the small bit of branch, just can't see it yet.

But my mind says, with the tall thin branch, it needs to be flat and wide (sort of) to form a counterpoise and balance.

Watching with interest Pete...
