Last year I took a large limb off a Yew tree, as I worked the limb back towards the trunk a large cavity opened up where the pith had rotted out. I ended up with a load of hollow rings! I remember being quite disappointed at the time, with the lack of usable timber so they ended up on the firewood pile.
Upon finding some of these hollow rings a couple of weeks ago, I thought to myself that I might just be able to get something out of it. So I put one on the lathe and this is the result.
I realise that this will not suit everyone's taste, so I would love to hear all your views on this one either way. (C & C welcome)
I have a few more of these rings but I am unsure whether to turn them, so I will let your reaction to this be my judge.
10" x 6" approx. Oil and wax finish. Thanks for looking
Kind regards
David
Ps Bryan - this is the one I was excited about a couple of weeks ago, mainly because I managed to get it off the lathe in one piece!
