A recent visit to my favorite tree surgeon has yielded quite a few bits of interesting wood. Amongst others, he had quite a few nice rounds of curly sycamore. I cut one half round into three slabs, and this dish was hidden in the outermost slab. This also had a strong influence on the shape. It's about 8" wide and 2.5" high. Finished with sanding sealer and wax. It is difficult to catch the curly figure on camera. I must have taken 20 different shots of this piece with various light settings and angles, but believe me when I say it is beautiful.
All C&C welcome.
